media log & reviews:

this is NOT seperated by media type whatsoever. and i like weird media formats anyways so that'd be extra tricky. if you wanna see all the movies than ctrl+F is your bestie! main types are book, game, movie, show, anime, manga, webcomic, youtube, live, manga, comic, other and podcast. why so many types? well #1 this is my website >:) and #2 if they aren't seperated into boxes, and instead are tagged... i can use more of them! (btw this format was yoinked and modified from this by willdotjpg.)

that's what it is. daily bread.

oh boy oh boy... that was, just wonderful. although i'd consider knives out to be the strongest in the trilogy thus far, WUDM (hehe funny acronym) is such a great look into the problems of the modern church.
jud is a delightful person, i was rooting for him instantly. then in contrast with the manipulative & cult of personality leading wicks - you see the exact comment they're making, "yo. the church should be about love, man. not this angry stuff" (i would gladly blame this entire problem on emperor constantine of rome and write an essay on it but this is a movie review, and i can link that later). the way benoit delivers the final conclusion, in wicks' space, yelling, above everyone, and then realizes his mistake, switching to the one on one interpersonal approach of jud, and ultamitely lets martha die in the way she chooses to, despite the fact benoit doesn't believe in the significance of the last rites aside from as a sort of placebo.
there were good pockets of modern social commentary on politics, scapegoating, the "gender war", etc. i will say, the supporting cast was good, but a bit much. the plotline, similarly, twisted like a knives out film, but almost to the point of confusion. my childhood religious experiences may also skew the impact this has on me compared to someone else soooo- emotional to me, may not be to everyone. i think i can say the phone call scene made everyone cry, a great tonal shift of "oh annoying phone lady talking too much" to "oh." and then you start crying. in summary, it felt like an interfaith discussion of what good and bad comes with religion, the emotional beats hit, and despite some slight bloat of characters and twists, i really enjoyed it.
